The card I remember had an image of a man with wings on his feet flying free from a birdcage.
While reminiscing about this card I wondered, what would I do if I had a “get out of jail free” card in my life?
Would I finally complete the things I know I’m meant to do? Would I love without fear? Create with abandon? Would I step outside the caged bars and fly towards freedom?
After all, my fears of rejection, disappointment, and heartache would all be insured with that tiny card.
With the answers too big to examine I thought about the other words written on the card—“This card may be kept until needed or sold.” Would I hoard the card and never take a risk for fear I’d use up my one chance to start again or would I sell the card so someone else could have a free do over?
My mind churned with the impossible choices that having such a tiny card in my possession would present. I spent some time questioning and reflecting and eventually a voice spoke within my mind and I received my answers.
“No card is needed. Everyday you’re presented with a get out of jail free card. Each moment is a chance to begin again. The opportunity to right any wrongs is always present. Fly with wings of courage from the prisons of fear and doubt. You need not sacrifice (sell your card) because the gift of creation has been given to all.” – soulmixology.com
Guess what! The voice is right. This morning is another opportunity to follow our dreams and create the life we’ve imagined. I might not be able to change everything in one day but I can take a step in the direction I would like to go. I can do something or several something’s today that will make a difference in how my life proceeds.
You will either step forward into growth, or you will step back into safety. ~ Abraham Maslow
Today is the perfect day, heck THIS MOMENT is the perfect moment to let go of fears, doubts, and/or the excuses that have imprisoned us and kept us from living a life that makes our souls dance with joy.
CHALLENGE: Grab a piece of paper and jot down a fear, doubt, or excuse that has kept you imprisoned. Now write down what you will do today to fly free from that limitation. It doesn’t have to be a grand gesture; just a small step in the right direction is all it takes.
What limitation are you stepping free of?
I’m tackling the belief that “I’m not enough”. It’s an old recording that won’t change in a day but my step forward is acknowledging that it’s a belief which has never served my highest good and it’s way past time to say adios. I commit to diligently work on freeing myself from this limitation. I will do “I am” affirmations on a daily basis. Beginning with “I am enough”. I’ll keep you updated on my progress.
I’d love to cheer you on in your flight to freedom. Comment below or join the discussion on the Soul Mixology Facebook Page.
